Welcome to the

Cotes Heath Solar Consultation Website

Project information

Ampyr Solar Europe is developing proposals for a solar development in Staffordshire, to the east of the village of Cotes Heath. We are proposing an approximately 24-hectare (ha) solar development within the overall 30 ha site, and its development will be a major step towards a sustainable future for Staffordshire.

The clean energy generated will save an estimated 5,100 tonnes of CO2 per year, or over 250,000 tonnes of CO2 over its 50-year lifespan.

The project will be able to supply the equivalent electricity needs of 7,400 homes per year.

Ampyr Solar Europe is exploring the development of a Community Benefit Fund.

Biodiversity is a key aspect of detailed project design.

The project supports Stafford Borough Council’s vision ‘to create a green, healthy and resilient Stafford Borough where everyone can thrive, by limiting the impacts of climate change and meeting our climate change and green recovery commitments’

Community consultation

We held a public consultation on our proposals from 14 January to 11 February 2025. You can view our consultation information boards and find out more about the proposals on the Project information page.

Following the consultation, a planning application was submitted to Stafford Borough Council (SBC) on 10 July 2025 to seek approval for Cotes Heath Solar. The application will be available on the SBC website in the coming weeks once validated by SBC here.

Ampyr Solar Europe is a highly experienced developer and operator of solar and battery storage projects.
